The bronchoscopy simulator developed by Plan 3D allows the realistic practice of the basic bronchoscopy procedure. It has been tested and validated by professionals specialized in the bronchopulmonary and thoracic areas.
One of the unique features of this simulator is that the anatomy of the bronchi is obtained from radiological studies performed on real patients, through a 3D segmentation process. It is made of a flexible material, which simulates the cartilaginous tissue of the bronchus and does not damage the bronchoscope. All this gives us the ability to manufacture an accurate and full-scale model, allowing the student to make a realistic and reliable practice of the process.
Its use also avoids the practice with bronchi of porcine origin, which are not reusable and must be treated according to complex hygiene protocols as they are considered biological waste.
Its use was validated in the course “Basic concepts in bronchoscopy with 3D biomodels” organized by Plan 3D and the Dr. Jorge Kaplán Meyer Cardiovascular Foundation and led by doctors Camilo Cavalla and Giannina Cerda of the Gustavo Fricke Hospital in Viña del Mar.
